Funeral
service for William J. "Doug" Slaughter, 93, Chipola Avenue,
DeLand, who died Sunday, November 6, 2005, at Woodland Terrace
Nursing Center, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 10, at Stetson
Baptist Church, DeLand, with Dr. David Goodroe officiating.
Burial will be at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Calling hours are
from 1:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr.
Slaughter was born in Mayo and moved from there to this area
in 1943. He was retired as a barber and, during World War II,
worked at the boatyard in DeLand building Higgins Boats. He
was a member of Stetson Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday
school, and belonged to the Bridge Club at Hidden Hills, DeLand.
Survivors
include his daughter and son-in-law, Edna and Ed Miner of DeLand;
four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial donations
requested to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail,
Port Orange, FL 32129.
